Children's workshops run every weekend and daily during the school holidays, where kids can learn to make everything from foil jewellery to clay shoes.
Dave did:
As with Thing #608, I happened to attend a children's dramatisation of the Chinese festival in the middle of the National Gallery. Can't recall too much of it except that the trio of performers attempted to teach the kids a novel full of chinese phrases in the space of 5 minutes and even I struggled to keep up (the songs to remind me weren't much use either!)

#608 - Attend a free public lecture: National Gallery
Timeout says:
The National Gallery runs several series of well-respected and formative talks. These include lunchtime lectures
Dave did:
During the Chinese New Year Festival celebrations I wandered into the National Gallery and literally stumbled across a school of children all gathering around a corner of the gallery to watch a dramatised lecture on the origins of the Chinese festival.
Free lecture if you ask me!

P.S. No photography allowed in the National Gallery so cant prove it other than giving my word!

#929 - Celebrate Chinese New Year
Timeout says:
Even if the festivities around Trafalgar Square mainly revolve around the sale of pricey noodles to tourists, its still worth bracing the crowds to see Chinatown come to life for Chinese New Year in mid-February, also known as Spring Festival.
Dave did:
I came, I saw, I queued for hours...and I watched a dramatised history lesson in the National Gallery
